Here Dev Narayan (Alok Nath) lives with his widowed daughter Laxmi (Aruna Irani) and his sons Radha and Prashant. Dev also cares for two orphaned children, Gopal and Nita. Laxmi thinks Dev is taking care of Gopal and Nita more, so she leaves the house with her children. When he sees an orphan child on the streets, he accepts it. Radha forms a brotherly bond with him and calls him Suraj.

Ages later, Suraj (Salman Khan) is now a famous and popular singer. Radha (Madhuri Dixit) is especially fond of him; Suraj is grateful to you for its success. However, Gopal (Shah Rukh Khan) has become a wealthy business tycoon. When Laxmi dies in an accident, Radha and Prashant (Atul Agnihotri) are taken to live at Gopal’s house. Also lives with them Nita (Suman Ranganathan). However, Gopal asks Radha to marry him, and she agrees. Before their wedding, Suraj asks Gopal to take care of Radha, as he loves her like a sister. Proceeding their wedding night, Gopal asks Radha who she loves the most in the world. She responds to her mother and Prashant. Gopal is hurt because she didn’t mention it. As time goes on, he begins to disapprove of two things. First, he doesn’t like the fact that he and Radha are supporting Prashant financially, and second, he doesn’t like the fact that Radha is always on the phone with Suraj. Later a misunderstanding, he loses his temper and throws Prashant out of the house.

Storyline

Here, Gopal soon suspects that Suraj and Radha secretly see each other and kick her out of her house. Radha is going to live with her relatives. Everyone thinks that Radha just moved in for a few days. Though, when Gopal sends Radha a divorce note, Suraj realizes the situation. He and Prashant tell Radha that they wish to speak to Gopal, but Radha does not want them to. Suraj has a secret meeting with him anyway. However, Gopal angrily confronts him, pulls out a loaded gun, and asks Suraj to shoot him. Afterward an argument, he leaves. Here Suraj now believes that he is the reason for Radha’s divorce and feels guilty. However, He is determined to fix things. Radha realizes that Gopal was angry about his relationship with Suraj. She and Suraj agree never to see each other again.

They visit Suraj at his show. Here Suraj clarifies the situation to his girlfriend Suman (Aishwarya Rai). Suman talks to Gopal and describes where he went wrong. However, Gopal realizes that he misunderstood Radha and Suraj’s sibling relationship for adultery. Just when Radha is about to commit suicide, Gopal stops her and they reconcile. Gopal and Suraj apologize, and things end well.
