Speaker Write For Us

Speakers Write for Us – In its basic definition, a speaker is a device that converts electrical impulses into sound.

Sound waves propagate through the air, and with our ears, in charge of capturing and interpreting these waves, we complete the hearing process.

Speaker Types

Loudspeakers are divided into two large groups: active and passive , and although their objective is the same, there are several considerations that we must take into account to understand their nature when purchasing them.

The group of active loudspeakers includes all the models that mount an amplifier inside, and do not need another external device to work. Therefore, within this classification, we find the traditional 2.0 self-powered speakers for use with PCs, turntables or TVs, portable bluetooth speakers and multiroom speakers, among the most prominent.

For their part, passive speakers do require an amplifierintegrated external due to its technical requirements, and they differ from each other by their type of design and use, either for listening to music or to be part of a home theater system.

Thus, we observe that the range is as wide as it is versatile and therefore, it is important to know in advance what use we are going to give our speakers, how much budget we have and what type of device best suits our needs.

How does the sound work in relation to the speakers?

Sound moves in pressure waves.  When air particles are compressed and rarefied fast enough, we hear it as sound.

The faster the changes in air pressure, the higher the “frequency” of the sound we hear.

When a speaker moves back and forth it pushes on air particles, this changes the air pressure and creates sound waves.

What are the parts of a speaker?

What are the parts of a speaker?

The parts of a speaker are:

  • The cone and dust cover (the parts that move air to produce sound)
  • The spider or suspension (these are the parts that hold the cone in place and allow it to move)
  • The magnet and coil (the parts that interact to convert electrical energy into motion)
  • the basket
  • pole and top cap
  • And finally the frame on which everything is mounted

How Do the Speaker Work?

Speaker work by converting electric energy into mechanical energy (motion).

Mechanical energy compresses the air and converts movement into sound energy or sound pressure level (SPL).

When electrical current is sent through the coil, it induces a magnetic field.

In loudspeakers, a current is sent through the coil, which produces an electric field that interacts with the magnetic field of the loudspeaker’s permanent magnet.

Like charges repel each other and unlike charges attract each other. When an audio signal is sent through the coil and the musical wave moves up and down, the coil is attracted and repelled by the permanent magnet.

This causes the cone the coil is on to move back and forth. The back and forth gesture creates pressure waves in the air that we perceive as sound .
